Head of Video

As a Head of Video based at our headquarters in Dubai Investments Park, you would be required to design, install and operate video display systems for large-scale events at a variety of venues, primarily in the UAE but occasionally across the GCC.

You should have 5+ years of experience and be able to demonstrate a high level of competency and understanding with the following equipment and skillset:

  • Barco Event Master,
  • Barco and Christie Projectors,
  • LED, LCD and Plasma display technologies,
  • Video switching and routing.
  • Control systems
  • You would also be competent with Video/Data signal processing and have a strong working knowledge of media servers and their application.
  • A strong understanding of disguise or Watchout will be essential.
  • Proficient at technical drawings (Vectorworks/CAD/SketchUp) & system schematics.

This job requires excellent technical and IT skills. You will need to be highly organised, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

1. Coordinate & manage the video dept. off-site operations, personnel, and logistics maintaining Protec’s quality, brand image, and service standards.

2. Manage video department warehouse, workshop, equipment, personnel & activities.

3. Optimise cap ex. and control budget expenditure within the dept.

4. Enhance team expertise through formal and informal (internal knowledge sharing) training and development of the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

OFF-SITE

• Handle quotation enquiries related to video and supply comprehensive quotation specifications (including crew, stagehands, transport, travel, equipment sub-hires and miscellaneous extras) for entry into rental and resource planning software.
• Plan, schedule, and check prep of confirmed jobs.
• Substitute & reallocate equipment to fill shortfalls on confirmed quotations.
• Attend weekly operations meetings to finalise logistics of upcoming jobs with relevant personnel.
• Assign crewmembers to confirmed jobs & brief accordingly.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, both rental and purchasing, to support jobs and optimise expenditure.
• Track & follow up all necessary job-related bookings with relevant persons, monitoring cost of sales expenditure and managing orders.
• Create technical drawings and schematics.
• Liaise with design & content creation team on projects incl. shooting, content & previsualisation.
• Oversee the planning and preparation of confirmed jobs by the relevant technicians/Project Managers for the Video department.
• Ensure that the correct systems procedures are being followed by video operations staff regarding scanning, scheduling, input of maintenance service records in TBS (resource planning software) etc.
• Assist with post job marketing and PR requirements.

ON-SITE

• Communicate with project managers and visit event sites regularly to check that service and delivery is of a consistently high standard.
• Provide technical support as needed to crew on site.

 

WORKSHOP

• Oversee Workshop functions and personnel, ensuring equipment is always well-maintained and fully operational.
• Manage maintenance and servicing costs in the video department.
• Ensure logs/records are kept of all services.

 

HIRESTOCK

• Manage stock takes of equipment and resolve stock count discrepancies for the video equipment according to the procedure.
• Monitor the Video equipment usage, making sure that the current stock holding is sufficient and optimal for market requirements.
• Research the latest technologies and predict future market needs to correctly assign cap ex. Liaise with business development on client trends.

 

PERSONNEL

• Promote safe working standards for all staff both on Protec premises and on-site.
• Lead the training and education of technicians and staff members attached to the Video Department in conjunction with HR.
• Lead department’s performance plan and appraisal criteria.
• Recruitment of additional team members.
• Build a network of freelancers to support department.

GENERAL

• Ensure industry-related legislation and legislation of the country is adhered to.

Business Development & Account Managers 

Protec requires multiple experienced customer-focused Business Development & Account Managers with a proven track record in the events services industry, ideally in technical production to work out of our Dubai offices concentrating on the GCC area.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

The successful individuals will be responsible for acting on leads and enquiries as well as actively seeking new clients and business. A strong network in the events industry and existing relationships are essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as you will be front-facing, representing the brand and ensuring the client’s experience is as stress free as possible.

You will work closely with project managers and the design team to effectively communicate the clients’ vision and brief. You will also need to work closely with marketing and heads of dept. to help with market research, inform planning, improve the customer experience and help predict future trends to inform purchasing.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Act as the main point of contact in all matters relating to client concerns and needs
• Build and strengthen client relationships to achieve long-term partnerships
• Actively seek out new business and create/act on leads
• Maintain accurate client records
• Create sales decks and pitches in line with brand guidelines
• Work with internal teams to develop strategic marketing plans and ensure KPIs are being met
• Develop a thorough understanding of our products and service offerings to better serve our clients’ needs
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and ensuring your skillset is evolving and current

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Proven track record in the event services industry

An established industry network in the Middle East region

Flexible, proactive and dynamic work ethic

Detail-oriented with good self-management skills

Strong communication skills both written and oral – English

Technical Project Manager

Based in Dubai but working across the GCC area our technical project managers should be client-centric with a strong technical background and understanding of technical event production with 3+ years experience.

The successful candidate should have these key skills:

  • Proficiency at Technical Drawings (VECTORWORKS/CAD/SKETCHUP)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the technical production service requirements for the live event industry
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and organisational skills.
  • Excellent at managing relationships – clients and crew.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

1. Identify and pursue business opportunities, establishing relationships with decision-makers in the industry.

2. Provide clients with single-contact access to a range of services.

3. Assume responsibility for the successful planning, coordination and realisation of assigned live events from inception to completion to ensure cohesion, efficiency, and quality in the delivery of the product.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

CLIENTS

• Source prospective clients and introduce them to the scope of Protec’s equipment and expertise by means of demos, workshop tours, promotional material etc.
• Develop and maintain sound business relationships with clients on behalf of the company.
• Visit current industry events on-site to further cultivate client relationships.
• Attend sales meetings to discuss potential sales leads.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Establish the client’s requirements and work with the relevant Protec managers to provide solutions.
• Create technical drawings and schematics.
• Function as liaison between the client and Protec throughout quoting and negotiation process, ensuring that all the client’s requirements are met and securing confirmation.
• Assist the accounts manager with collecting payment for confirmed jobs.
• Plan and coordinate the event; generate technical production schedules and organise the requirement details (equipment, personnel, transport, travel, forklifts, etc.) with the operations team in weekly meetings.
• Monitor the progress and standard of job preparation by operations and administrative staff prior to load-in.
• Oversee the load-in and set up of equipment, ensuring that technical personnel are fully briefed.
• Produce quotes for clients and sales staff.
• Provide on-site management support for the client, serving as the primary contact between him/her and Protec technical personnel.
• Coordinate and support personnel from all disciplines onsite, ensuring adherence to Protec codes of contact, dress codes, customer service levels and health and safety standards.
• Communicate regularly with technical staff and/or management regarding progress and resolve changes, performance problems, conflicts or issues impeding progress.
• Perform a quality control function throughout the entire project.
• Organise all necessary site requirements such as crew passes, catering, electrician, storage facilities, etc.
• Organise and oversee the load out ensuring that it takesa place safely and efficiently as scheduled and that the venue is left in good condition.
• Complete and submit the Protec Job Report Form.
• Conduct a follow up with the client after the event.
• Assist marketing with any post-event collateral.
